Custom entry doors can be everything.
When it comes to your home, the first impression people will always occur in entryways or your custom entry doors. And now it’s easier than ever to choose something you’ll love, that will add to the curb appeal of your house.
So what’s available for custom entry doors?
Joni Dennis, co-owner of DeLuxe Window and Door, Spring Township, said that doors are very customized.
“Homeowners can have a beautiful entryway that’s uniquely theirs,” she said.
Accent Colors are Popular
Having accent colors for entry doors is a current popular trend with many homeowners, Dennis said.
“Decorative leaded glass with matching hardware accessories in designer finishes is also popular, as well as doors that have the beauty of wood but without the maintenance or warping problems,” she said.
Dennis said energy-efficient, insulated doors with strong, low-maintenance construction and secure locking features continue to be in big demand as well.
Quality of Materials
Many homeowners who are replacing their original new-construction entry doors are paying close attention to the quality of materials for their new doors, Dennis said.
“We are installing a lot of insulated, heavy-duty, 20-gauge steel entry doors and also high-end fiberglass doors where the application is suitable,” she said. “We are always concerned with the long-term durability of wooden doors, wood-edge doors and veneered wooden doors in our climate.”
Bitterly cold winters, combined with very hot humid summers, can really take a toll on entry doors that are not designed for those extremes, Dennis said.
But with all the new features and customization available, what is the range in cost of the doors and installation on the newer-style doors?
Dennis said, like most home improvements, the range in cost for doors and installation can vary dramatically.
“It can be in almost any price range, from hundreds of dollars to thousands,” she said. “It really depends on the quality, style and level of desired workmanship for installation.”
